Is it just me?

Default Is it just me?

I have a desktop, dual core athlon, 2 gigs of RAM, and a laptop Athlon TL
series plus 1 Gig RAM. Both run Vista, Ultimate on the desktop, Home P on
the laptop.

Both are connected 802.11g to the internet through a D-link router. After
much hassle, networking is finally good.

Something I have noticed on both systems though is that the Internet will
gring to a halt if I am running a processor intensive app and try to open a
browser or change URL, or refresh etc.

For example running Pinnacle Studio to encode video and open a browser,
display of web data might appear after a wait, but if I pause the encoding
or close the app web data appears instantaneously.

Same thing happens with Nero, DVD Shrink, Windows DVD Maker etc. and is
totally repeatable.

Happens on both my systems.

Any Comments?

That is because internet explorer needs to use your processor too. Just
because it doesnt require a lot of processing power doesnt mean that it will
not be hurt by a program that is useing close to your cpu's max capacity.

Default Re: Is it just me?

Not to the extent I am seeing. For example, open IE and homepage displays
straight away. Start another programme such as pinnacle. Have it performing
a task. Hit refresh button on IE and wait and wait and wait. Never happened
on XP. Processor requirements for update of a web page can't be that great!.
Also happens with ftp.

Would be interested to see if anyone else could try this and see what
happens.
