KDS VS 17" monitor - refresh rate problems

I've been using XP for a while and have been having
problems with refresh rates all along. I have a KDS visual
sensations 17" monitor from a previous system and did not
have any refresh rate problems when using Windows 98SE. Now
that I've been using XP, I've had to change the refresh
rate quickly when logging in every time I turn on my
computer. Sometimes I'm able to change the refresh rate to
85Hz(84Hz according to monitor), but a lot of the time it
will set itself at 59Hz and I have to restart again to try
to set it at 85. When using Knoppix (linux cd demo), the
refresh rate is fine therefore I've come to the conclusion
that it's a Windows XP problem. If you could help me figure
this out I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.
