Keyboard Problem

Posted: 02-20-2004, 06:58 AM
I recently replaced my hard drive, installed all of the
needed software to include the CD for a Versato
keyboard. Each time when I boot up, I get an error
saying that Versato encountered an error and to notify
Microsoft of this problem. I send the error report, but
can't seem to get it fixed. I believe the problem has to
do with getting updated drivers for Windows XP
Professional. I have looked on the Microsoft.com web
site to see if I could find anything at all about device
drivers for Versato keyboard and find nothing. I don't
know who the manufacturer is and can't seem to find
anything on Google.com. Does anyone have any ideas or
possible solutions? Sure will appreciate them. Thanks so
much.

Nancy, I did a little search and found what appears to be a driver update
for your keyboard at the following location:
http://www.inlandfaq.com/keyboards.htm

I hope this helps.

Thanks so much for your prompt reply. I went to the site
as suggested and found what appeared to be the driver I
would need for my keyboard (Versato), but could not tell
if it is compatible with Windows XP Professional. Do you
know or can you advise if it is?
Thanks for your continued assistance.

Nancy, this driver is compatible with Windows XP Pro. I do not have the
hardware to actually test it out for you but when looking through the
documentation contained in the download package I found the following list
of system requrements:

1. PC compatible system
2. MicrosoftÒ WindowsÒ 95,98,ME,2000,Windows XP(32bit) or NT4.0
3. CD-ROM drive (for CD and Video operation)
4. DVD-ROM drive (for DVD operation)
5. Standard sound card (for CD and Video operation)

If you are worried about this driver causing a problem you can always create
a restore point from which to roll back the changes.

To create a Restore Point:
Access the System Restore Wizard through Help and Support Center.
Click Create a restore point, and then click Next.
In the Restore point description box, type a name to identify this restore
point. System Restore automatically adds to this name the date and time that
this Restore Point is created.
To finish creating this restore point, click Create.
To cancel restore point creation and return to the Welcome to System Restore
screen, click Back.
To cancel restore point creation and exit the System Restore Wizard, click
Cancel.

Notes:

To access the System Restore Wizard, click Start, and then click Help and
Support. Click Performance and Maintenance, click Using System Restore to
undo changes, and then click Run the System Restore Wizard.
Creating a restore point can be useful any time you anticipate making
changes to your computer that are risky or might make your computer
unstable.
To view or to return to this restore point, from the Welcome to System
Restore screen of the System Restore Wizard select Restore my computer to an
earlier time. Then select the date when the restore point was created from
the calendar in the Select a Restore Point screen. All of the restore points
that were created on the selected date are listed by name in the list box to
the right of the calendar.

I hope this helps.

Scott

Just make sure when you download the driver that you also take time to look
for the key code for it. It should be right there where you download from.
The key that came with your original install disk won't work.

Sounds like you have an Ortek multimedia keyboard.Look at underside and the
label will tell who makes it. At worst case it will have an fcc id. # and
that will tell you who makes it. Try the ortek website and see its there.
