keyboard symbols

I noticed tonight that there are some extra symbols over
some of the number keys, in particular the straight line
next to the number 1 key. Can you please tell me how i
can access these symbols. Thanks. Lynn

CTRL+ALT+<whichever key> or ALT GR+<whichever key>.

If it's what i think, you just need to press alt car (the
next key at right of space bar) and keep pressed and then
press the number. ±@£¢¤¬¦²³¼
