lag time for "connect to a network" box

Default lag time for "connect to a network" box

There is a lag time when i select connect to connect to a network, it takes
about 5 minutes to make the box come up. How can I fix this?

Could be an AntiVirus software doing some checking before it will allow it
to come up. What are you using? If possible, shut it down.

Although the details are clear in your mind, you haven't told us anything
about (for a few examples):

1. What kind of network - wired, wireless, details of equipment
2. Domain or workgroup
3. Computer specs, including OS version and SP level
4. The answer to The First Question of Troubleshooting: what changed between
the time things worked and the time they didn't?
