Launch program at startup: "Run" folder missing!

Posted: 12-20-2005, 10:18 AM
Hi!

I've read in several posts that if I want to launch a program at startup I
can do it by using:
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ Run

I've opened my Registry Editor but I can't see that "Run" folder, I can see
the "RunOnce" folder, but not the "Run" folder.

What's the problem?

My XPe image is built using:

- Explorer Shell
- Windows-based Terminal Professional
- windows Logon
- Automatic Logon
- Registry Editor

Thanks,
Asier

....that you've not made it? Unless there's something that starts from a
Run key, it won't be there. You can add them in 'extra registry
settings' in target designer if you want.

Thank you very much for the answer,

I've created the Run folder and everything goes fine.

But I don't understand what you mean with 'extra registry settings', could
you explain it a bit further?

Thanks again,
Asier

OK, in Target Designer, middle pane, up the top there just under the slx
filename you've got Settings, Extra Files, Extra Registry Data, Extra
Resources. You can put stuff in there.

Also, Adora Belle Dearheart is from Going Postal by Terry Pratchett.
It's a running joke that she was based on me (though knowing Terry, she
might have been) and on the UK edition, she's/I'm on the cover...

Sorry, but I still don't understand 'extra registry settings'

Just under Imagename.slx I can see "Settings", if I click on it I can see a
list of the available settings on the right side of the window. These
available settings are:
- Target Device Settings
- Configuration Update and Refresh Settings
- Deployment Identification Settings
- Other Settings

Under Imagename.slx there's also the list os components included in my *.slx
to build the image.

I can't see: Extra Files, Extra Registry Data, Extra Resources that you've
mentioned.

Asier

the view menu ticked?

Ohhh... that's the problem, I didn't have "Resources" ticked on the View menu.

Now I can see it.

Thank you very very very much.
