lcd monitor display problems

hi, i just purchased a customised media centre desktop pc. config includes
windows vista home premium, enhanced graphics card GT 7600 and connected to
Panasonic 81cm LCD screen via HDMI to HDMI cable

display was working when I first switched it on but since I tried to change
reolution to a higher setting the display has been dropping out to a blank
blue screen part way through loading windows. i've tried to change display
setting via safe mode but it hasn't fixed the problem. help please?
