Leaving "it is now safe to turn off power" message on screen

Posted: 09-07-2006, 02:28 PM
We have an embedded system which uses an ETX processor module.

Our current processor suddebnly went out of production and we've had to
choose another one. the one we're now using behaves slightly differently
when we shut down windows.

On the old module when we shutdown we got the 'It is now safe to turn off
the power' message. On the new module (which now has ACPI in the BIOS) the
screen goes blank but the system is still powered up. We don't have an ATX
power supply (our unit only takes 40W).

The problem is that when our customers see the blank screen they assume that
the power has been turned off and start unplugging things. As part of our
system is a high voltage generator you can see that this could be a problem.

Is there a way of keeping the 'it is safe to turn off the power' on the
screen.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Dear Kevin,

Are you able to change the HAL component from "ACPI *" to "Standard PC"?

This may solve this problem.

Hi Kevin,

If possible disable ACPI in the BIOS and swap the ACPI component in your
image with the Standard PC component.

Brad
