Leisure Suit Larry 7 in XP

Trying to install Leisure Suit Larry 7 in Windows XP Pro.
The installationprogram starts, there is a button in the
activity field at the bottom that says "Sierra On-Line
Setup" but i can't get any further because there is no
setup window.

All this works in a computer with win98se and in the
window there you can click a lot of buttons, among
them "continue" to get your computer tested and the game
installed.

The problem is then, where is the window in XP? I have
tried starting the setup in win95 compatibility, but that
doesn't work. It says some dll file is missing
(gli.dll?). If i try to start it in win98 compatibility,
the same thing happens as in true XP mode - no window,
just the button in the activity field at the bottom.

(please, not sure i have all the correct terms since i'm
not english speaking from start, but i hope i make myself
understood)

Hi Mr50
Have you attempted using the compatibility option to disable visual themes
on the setup.exe file included on game disc, then run setup directly by
doubling clicking on this file?
To make the game run full screen once its installed you will need to set
SIERW5.EXE to run at 640x480 resolution (in the compatibility options).

Hi and thanks for the answer...

Unfortunately it didn't help. The same result as before:
I get the button in the activity field, but no
installation/setup window and so no chance to install the
game.

I would appreciate any help, since this is one game i
would hate to miss out on in XP
