Attached is the email I sent to Lexmark and they claim
that since I do not have the SHCP file it is a software
issue to have bi-directional support PLease help !!!
When I try to use the scan and contol program to scan or
copy via the PC
I get an error - SHPC Port monitor error and must close
down. When this
happens it locks open the port and I must reboot to
communicate with the PC
and Printer. I have uninstalled , reinstalled , used the
clean program ,
latest drivers you show , un hooked all USB stuff ,
changed ports, changed
cables . I did go into the event viewer after the error
and see an
Application error - Faulting Application lxamsp32.exe
version 0.98.1.0
faulting module user 32.dll version 5.1.2600.1134, fault
address 0x0000eb22
- I need help to fix this other than this all other
functions seem to work
just not the scan / control progam and XP - I have a P-
4 3.06 , I gig of
ram and 120 of HD

I'm having similar problems. I've tried just about
everything and can't get it to work.

Printer worked fine until I changed the ink cartridge.
Now it acts like I don't have a cartridge in it. Tried
everything I know. Any ideas?

Read the printer manual to see if you missed out any steps such as a button
press on the printer after a cartridge is changed. Failing that, return the
cartridge to the store and get another. It might be a bad cartridge.

Well, It's difficult to know what you tried based on your statement since I
don't know what you know.

In addition to Cari's suggestions, possibilities include:

The cartridge is OK and installed properly. It just needs time for the ink
to work its way through. Try running the head cleaning routine.

The cartridge needs a protective strip removed before installation. Remove
the cartridge, and reinstall following the instructions included with it
(hopefully).

The protective strip was removed and the cartridge properly installed. Check
the cartridge closely. Compare it to the one you removed if possible. Assure
that you did nor tear off the electrical contacts or otherwise damage it. If
damaged, try another cartridge.

Let us know.

I don't know if this problem is related to the printer or
the computer or software or whatever - truth is I'm new to
computers. Hope someone can help because Lexmark can't
seem to. Here goes - recently if I try to print it takes
5 - 10 minutes for the printer to respond to the command.
I am not running any programmes other than the one I'm
in. I've uninstalled, installed, changed printer ports,
but to no avail. I would appreciated any thoughts.
Thanks.

Get the drivers for the X63 from the Lexmark www site. Install according
to the instructions which appear on-screen. Do _not_ connect the printer
to the computer until instructed to do so.

Let us know.
