Library files and VB6?

This all basically started on a quest with trying to register and oc
for a program I downloaded. After I finally found out how to, an
succeeded, the program still didn't work. It came up with the erro
"Project 1 has stopped working", and it eventually closed. I've hear
that there's something up with my "library files", and something abou
needing VB6. People have given me the links to download them from, bu
the error still comes up. I really want to know how to fix it, and wha
they are for
