Limited Connection -> Hardware Issues?

Posted: 07-13-2006, 01:23 PM
I just got an AMD x64 processor wtih nVidia nForce network card. Installed
Vista x64 Beta 2 on a separate partition, and all was going very smoothly.
Then, while trying to connect to the internet, it said limited connection.

Tried everything I could to get to work, including installing my Windows XP
MCE network driver. I tried not using the IPv6 and only IPv4 and more. Now,
when I go back to my old version XP and try to connect, I get the same thing,
Limited connection. So, now both Vista Beta 2 and XP network not
operational... What could be the problem?

Could a bad driver have caused a hardware fault? I'm a Software Engineer,
but don't deal enough with drivers to know their hardware potental, but it
seems like they would be able to fry a board.

Limited Connection -> Hardware Issues?

I just got an AMD x64 machine and tried to install Vista Beta 2 x64 on a
separate partition. Everything installed fine, seemed to be going well, but
when I tried to access the network, I got Limited Connection. I think that
the onboard LAN card is an nForce but I'm not sure which version. I'm
connecting via Ethernet to a Linksys router.

I have tried quite a few things to get this to work. I removed IPv6 and kept
IPv4. I tried to use my OLD (caugh) x86 windows XP driver that is installed
on my D: drive... tried messing with settings, to no avail. I even tried
bypassing my router and connecting strait to my RoadRunner modem, no luck.

The main problem though is that now even in my x86 XP version of windows I
get the same thing, Limited connection. It REALLY seems like I have somehow
blown a piece of hardware. Is this possible and does anyone have any
suggestions?!?!

Limited Connection -> Hardware Issues?

I just got an AMD x64 system and installed Vista Beta 2 x64 on a separate
partition. The install went well and things were good until I tried the
network out. Limited Connection was what it stated. This is a rather typical
network issue, so, I tried to debug it as such.

To my avail things seemed to have gotten worse. Now, when I try to go to my
First partition, that has XP installed, I STILL cann't access the network and
receive the same issue, Limited Connection.

The only thing I did that "really" had any relivalance to the first
partition was that I tried to install the old network driver. I know it's an
x86 compiled driver, but I was desparate.

Could a bad driver have blown my hardware? Any comments / suggestions?

Sorry for the tripple post, I was receiving error messages, so I thought they
didn't go through, that's why each message is typed different.
