I have a number of MP3/CD/midi players.
I want to record music from external audio-tape source.
Have line in jack and plug.
What do I do? Help please?

You need two RCA jacks at the other end- plug them into the output jacks on
your cassette player, and the 1/8 mini jack into the line-in on your
soundcard. I use MusicMatch Jukebox to record the cassette to the harddrive
in WAV format. You can then burn those WAV files to an audio CD with no
quality loss, but you may want to use a WAV editor to remove the tape hiss
before you do.

This guy has lots of helpful advice and recommendations:

Ian.

I use AUDACITY. It is FREE, Open source, and reliable.
Not share-ware or free-ware junk.

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/a.../audacity-win-
1.2.0-pre3.exe?download (this is the 'unstable' pre-
release version, but it works great -- done many huge
projects with it at work.)

It is fairly easy to use. Just connect to your sound
card's line in, select LINE IN on the input menu of the
audacity program, and record away. (If you want to
record from the internet and can hear the sound from your
PC speakers, select AUDIO MIX as your recording source).
You'll have to play with the recording levels, but you'll
get it right!

Good recordings!
