Line input problems

I'm wanting to record from sound board onto my laptop (Adobe Acrobat). I'm
outputing from from record out RCA jacks on my sound board, and then inputing
them into my laptops mic jack. I get a low buzz which I think is happening
because of line-in vs. mic-in issues. Any ideas how to resolve?

Mic in won't be stereo. Use the line-in. Also you may need a turntable
pre-amp between the record player and lap-top (most Record players don't
output 200mV - I see one new one does). Also this pre-amp is designed to
change the bass/treble because records are boosted (can't remember wether Hi
frequencies or low).
