Default LOG ON ERROR

For some reason my computer rebooted (not sure why
possible power surge) When I went to use the computer the
message: NTLDR: Fatal error 4096reading boot.ini. Not
sure why I got this but now I can't restart my computer.
Have tried reinstalling windows XP Home but have not been
successful. I tried contacting microsoft but it is
looking for a product serial number for XP but I can't
access the number. Any suggestions on how I can get my
computer operational?

Default LOG ON ERROR

if you cant restart your computer then you could just
unplug it, or hold in your ON switch on your tower. Your
comuter should turn off after holding the button

If you purchased your Computer with XP already installed by the maker,
Microsoft requires those manufacturers to attach a label containing the
Product ID No. to the outside of the case.
If you purchased XP from a retail source and installed it yourself, the
Product Key is contained on a label affixed to the back of the CD case. I
hope you kept it.

they are looking for is only 23 characters and is in a
different format. It sais to go to my computer to find it.
Pretty hard to do since I can't get into the operating
system.
