| Hi David You can enable automatic logon by going to start > run and typing in control userpasswords2 When the user accounts window open uncheck the tick box which reads 'users must enter a username and password to use this computer' and click ok (you'll be prompted to enter the user/pass you want to logon with at this point). -- Mark "David Blust" <drblust@cox.net> wrote in message news:0bcd01c34ba0$385067f0$a301280a@phx.gbl... | I've recently reinstalled XP and now have the hassle of having to logon every time I start up the computer. As I am the only user this is irritating to say the least. I've done everything suggested in messages in this group and still have a problem. When I reboot I get the logon message and am asked for a password - there isn't one - so I hit return and everything continues as normal. In User Accounts my account is listed as Pete and Administrator and I've tried everything I can think of to not logon. The only thing that I can think of which might have contributed to this (how I don't know) is that I only have a recovery disk with my Laptop (that's what it came with) so that when I reload the best I can get is a quick format not a full format and maybe some setting are not erased but interfere with the OS. Any Ideas? Pete | Guest

| Hi Nate, Start/run "control userpasswords2" Go to the advanced tab, uncheck the option requiring users to use ctrl+alt+delete. Click apply/ok and reboot. You should now be able to use the Welcome screen option under the users applet in the control panel. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers aka "Nutcase" MS-MVP - Win9x Windows isn't rocket science!
