Lost CD-Rewriter drive after installing Spybot

I had popup's/virus on my XP and i installed Spybot and
managed to clear the pop up problem but have lost my CD
drive i got sony cd-rw crx140. The CD opean's and closes
but not appear in my drive list. i tried disconnecting
and reconnecting it, to get pc to recognise plug and play
still no joy.The code i am getting when checking
troubleshooting is code 39. please help
