Lost my CD/DVD drives 2

Posted: 07-09-2008, 02:24 PM
Lately I seem to have lost all of my CD/DVD devices even my ImageDrive. And
that causes me a lot of trouble.

I have did some research on the problem and my DeviceManager says this:

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration
information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft
and to
see if there is a solution available."

That leaves me wondering how can i fix that without doing a complete system
reïnstal. I have tried using a restore point but that does not work.

When i try to update the driver Windows says:
"Windows has determined the software is up to date"

So anyone please help me, provide me a link for a new driver or something. I
am becomming quite desperate.

Tanks,
Klijs

Could be similar issue to this KB although I cannot guarantee that this is
the same fix for vista.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

This is basically that some authoring software alters the upper and lower
filters in the registery on the machine and when it is removed this doesnt
alter on the registery and renders the DVD/CD device corrupted.

Might be worth investigating this issue.

Same fix. The KB includes Code 19 as the OP posted

Sometime after SP1 (Vista Home Premium 32) I lost my DVD-Burner it now shows
this under Device Manager when I select the burner

"This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and
to see if there is a solution available."

I have swapped out the burner with another one to the same error, tried
different cables, and both drives show up in BIOS

PC is:
AMD FX-62
MSI K9N Diamond nForce 590 latest BIOS 1.8 and latest drivers
LG GSA-H55L -DVD-RW
Sony DRU-710A -DVD-RW
