lost my files on ntfs

My file seems to be lost in the system somewhere. The pc
said that it was corrupt or in bad sector. How can I fix
this or at least find a couple of things I wanted to keep
but didn't have a chance to backup. There are two other
files in use and they work great. in fact I use my
daughtr's file.
