Lost XP pro product key code

Default Lost XP pro product key code

I've lost the product key code to my original HP Notebook MS Windows XP SP1 CD.

I've contacted HP and they say they can not help me.

Can Microsoft?

There may well be a COA sticker under a removable cover.. or maybe on the
CD's original plastic case..

The OEM (HP) is responsible for support. I don't want to belabour the
obvious but did you look on the bottom of the notebook. On all HP's I've
seen it was there unless someone deliberately removed it. The sticker is
hard to remove.

Thanks Mike for the quick reply. The problem is the laptop was scrapped for
parts and sold. We are now trying to install on HP Desktop PC. The install
worked but when it came to the key code, nothing we tried work, IE using
other key codes from other pc's/laptops in our office.

The OEM License is tied to the laptop. It cannot be transferred to another
pc according to the terms of the license. In addition the versions of XP
supplied by HP look for a particular BIOS. Buy a legitimate copy of XP.

You have not license to install it on your desktop. The license applies to
the laptop only. You will have to purchase yourself a copy of windows xp
