LPT2 install on WinXP

Posted: 02-28-2005, 11:23 PM
Just installed new HD and WinXP on a Asus CUV4X previously running Win98. It
has an LPT2 port in the ISA slot that worked fine. With no other changes
other than adding the new HD and WinXP the OS will not recognize the ISA card
(IRQ5 reserved for ISA and jumpered on the card). I have been using a Roland
PR1012 dot matrix on LPT2 on this system for 4 years no problem. I cannot
locate the mfg of the card, so not sure what LPT driver to use in WinXP. I
used the Epson RX80 driver in Win98 for the printer itself. Any ideas would
be appreciated, Thanks...

You'll need to remove the card and see if you can work out who the
manufacturer is by identifying it from the FCC number on the card. You
could also go out and purchase a PCI LPT card.

Thanks Cari, I already had the card out but it is rather generic and has no
FCC #, and I did want to avoid spending another $50 for a Lava PCI Parallel
card. No other work around or other drivers I can try??

Off the top of my head I can't think of any. ISA is a rather forgotten
hardware these days. Sorry. No USB on any of the printers?

Unfortunately no. It's too bad since Win98 has the LPT2 driver as part of the
OS build. Thanks for your time, Cari.
