making an 'embedded' winxp-like install

I have winxp, but would like to a use a super-slimmed down version of
it to put in an embedded device for my senior project next year.

Ive seen programs that claim to make an install cd that will strip all
unwanted components (media player, browser, etc), but not sure if it
comes close to XPe.

Is it possible to make such a minimalist install?

Hi benn,

What functionality do you need and what size do you want?

You can make usable XPe images that are very small from 30 MB up to full XPP
size.

Ben,

The "purpose" of XPe is to make striped XP images :-)
You can learn how to do that here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de.../startpage.asp

Also, look at WinPE or BartPE tools (search Google). This may be what you are looking for.
