Mandriva LE 2005 and RealPlayer

Posted: 12-04-2005, 06:32 PM
I recently downloaded and installed RealPlayer for Linux. I'm running
Mandriva LE 2005. However, when I run "realplay", I get the following
message:

error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory

So, I went to MCC and tried to install libstdc++.so.5. But when I went to
do so, I received the following message:

The following packages have bad signatures:
libstdc++5-3.3.4-4mdk.i586.rpm: Invalid signature ((SHA1)
DSA sha1 md5(GPG) (MISSING KEY) GPG#78d019f5 NOT OK)
Do you want to continue installation?

I didn't continue with the installation because I don't know what, if
anything will happen. Should I continue with the installation? If not,
does anyone else have any other ideas as I would really like to use
RealPlayer.

Many thanks.

Stephen

See http://groups.google.com/group/alt.o...7?dmode=source
for how to get all of the mandrake/mandriva keys installed
in your rpm keyring.

No no no!

Just make sure that you point to the right hdlist files on the server.
You'll have to browse your media in MCC's RPM manager; the path should be
something like: hdlist.cz or media_info/hdlist.cz or the corresponding path
on your particuliar ftp server.

Since last july many hdlist files appeared among the subdirectories, wich do
no more correspond to the updated files! And these old hdlist files still
remain on most servers.

Thanks for the advice. I don't mind going to the server. However, my rpms
were on CD. So maybe the CD is corrupt although I doubt it. Any other
advice is always welcome. Many thanks.

More probably you were not connected to the internet when you installed
Mandriva, so your system was not able to go to the key server and get the
keys for the 'signed' files on the CDs when those CDs were added as
'software sources' - so you should do it now using the software management
tools in 'configure your computer'. This is actually normal for Mandriva
2005, but it is perplexing for the newcomer.

We'll I've done all this and I still get the same messages. I've
successfully downloaded updates in the past. It just seems to be this one.
Having said that, I didn't have an Internet connection when I installed LE
2005. Thanks for trying though.
