Mandriva & Shutting down

Posted: 12-02-2005, 07:46 PM
In Mandriva, KDE, I changed the normal option of just logging off to
allowing everyone to shut down and restart.

This works 1 time, but the second, I am just able to log off. I have to
go to su via a terminal and then have to command halt.

How can I overcome this bug (sorry, but that's what I call it when Linux
unilaterally changed my settings)?

The setting was probably reverted back to only allowing root to shut
down and reboot by the nightly run of /msec./

You can tweak each and every individual setting of the chosen security
level by going into the Mandriva Control Center - also known as
"Configure your computer" and selecting "Security" there.

Rationale: Mandriva installs the Mandriva Security - formerly Mandrake
Security - by default as part of the base install. At install time,
you are asked to specify as security level. Each security level covers
a whole plethora of default security settings, but each of those can be
altered if needed.

Hope this helps... ;-)

I'm affraid the only thing that's in the MCC under the tab security, is
the personal firewall. That's the only feature I can change.

Thank you Aragorn

Toggle to Expert under Options at top of MCC.
