Manually receiving faxes and which fax program to use

Posted: 10-06-2006, 07:22 PM
I have a Dell Dimension 4300 w/Windows XP SP2. I have 2 questions regarding
faxing. I just successfully sent a fax for the first time.

1. Should I be using fax console from Windows. Or, should I use Phone
Tools, a disc that came with my computer?

2. My fax line is shared with my home phone. I have not tried to receive a
fax yet. Although I have set the default to manual to receive a fax, I have
read the help section and cannot determine how to receive a fax if I answer
the phone and hear the tone for the fax. I'm very new at this so basic
instructions would be appreciated (do I open the program, click receive fax,
answer the phone and hear the tone and then hang up the phone?)

Any and all help is very much appreciated.
