Many Application Crashes — Fault Bucket ????
Posted: 06-08-2006, 03:15 PM
Sorry if this is OT for this forum, but I saw that several other threads
here were addressing this problem, so I'm hoping that someone here can
help—or suggest a better place to ask.
I have been experiencing these application crashes for about 2 months, but
they seem to be getting worse lately, as many as 5 to 10 per day now. This is
the first forum that I have stumbled across where actual progress seems to be
possible. I have tried all the suggestions in this and many other forums: I
have Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Rescue running. As you can see from the
following abreviated list, I am getting crashes in many different
applications. I sure hope we can get to the bottom of this.
I have a hardware SPI firewall and Windows XP Pro SP2 firewall enabled. I am
careful about my browsing and I don't download porn or cracked software. I
have scanned with my normal antivirus in safe mode and used
safety.live.com—nothing! I have tried to pare back to as minimal a
configuration as possible. I have performed a full disk scan and have run the
Microsoft memory test utility, so I don't believe this is a hardware issue.
All of my fans are performing well, and I periodically blow the dust out of
my computer, so I don't believe there is any overheating issue. I am not
using any weird hardware and all of my drivers are up to date, so I don't
think it is a driver issue. It is happening with many different applications
and many different DLLs, so I don't think it is a specific application
problem.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Regards,
David (BSEEE, MCSA)

Windows saved user [USER]\David registry while an application or service was
still using the registry during log off. The memory used by the user's
registry has not been freed. The registry will be unloaded when it is no
longer in use.
This is often caused by services running as a user account, try configuring
the services to run in either the LocalService or NetworkService account.
