| Hi, this is going to be a bit long, but I need to describe the whole scenario, so that I can get assistance quite quickly and easily. I work in an office that runs a network which is comprised of: Network Attched Storage (NAS200) device, a Gigabit Switch, 3 Desktop PC's, 3 Laptops, all running Windows XP Pro. Up until now we have not had any issues with our setup, and connecting all the machines, printers etc. All the users have user names and passwords that match those created on the NAS device (accessed via IE Browser) and everything corresponds, using the fixed IP address of the NAS device. The workgroup name for the NAS storage device matches ALL the machines in the office's workgroup. Yesterday we purchased 2 HP Pavillion DV9690EI Laptops, running Vista Home Premium. These were set up with user names and passwords that match the user names and paswords for the 2 laptops being replaced. I have so far succeeded in getting the HP laptops to use the IP addresses of the laptops that are no longer on the network. The Hp's are receiving the shared internet connection from the machine in IP Address 1. The HP's also show that there is traffic on the network, as the connection I created displays this traffic clearly, and the switch picks the HP's up at a Gigabit speed. The only thing I am battling with is mapping the NAS device's network drives for the HP machines. I am not very familiar with Vista, and am not sure if I am doing anything wrong, and if there are setting that I am not using correctly. Can someone please talk me through this, or let me know of any compatability issues that exist for the set up I have described above. Thanks in advance. -O- | Guest
