| I have a client that has a shared folder on his 2003 server domain controller and he wants access to this folder without having to re enter the user name and password each time he reboots his laptop. He is using vista so I setup a mapped drive to this shared folder and checked the box to automatically login after reboot with the admin credentials but each time I reboot you have to manually enter in the user name and password. He does not want to join the domain all he wants is his shortcut to this mapped drive to work. Does anyone know a work around to accomplish this? I know with my old 2000 DC I could setup a user with the same name and pw as the xp pro laptop user and it would pass through without having to join the domain so can I do the same with a 2003 DC and vista? | Guest

| IMHO creating stored-password connections to a server is not good practice anyway. If the laptop becomes accessible to someone who shouldn't have it, then your network security is compromised. Stored passwords are not secure, there are a number of utilities which can extract them from the registry. (for example Korben's RockXP) http://mylogon.net will allow you to set him up with alogon, and logon script, without the laptop having to be adomain-member. Again (and by design) it won't allow a passwordless connection, though. "dath" wrote: Quote:
