Mapped drives not showing in My Computer/Windows Explorer

Has anyone experienced that? Several of the mapped drives
would not show in Win. Explorer, even after refreshing.
Otherwise these drives are accessible by applications, as
well as show in Command Prompt via "net use" command.
Another issue - on numerous occassions users are unable
to open a file by double clicking on its icon. They
would have to resource to right/oposit click, and then
select "Open" from the pop-up menu. Is there a fix for
that?
