Mapped Network Drive does not stay

I have an XP client and an NT4.0 server sharing a folder. From the XP client
I map the shared folder through My Computer-map network drive and select the
shared folder and have the box check to reconnect at logon. I have done
this several times and whenever I logout or restart the client, the mapped
drive is no longer there. I have to go and remap it again. I have tried
this as a power user and an administrator to the client and still no luck.
Any thoughts on why it keeps losing the mapping.?
