mapped network drive prompt

Posted: 11-06-2003, 06:29 PM
Hi,
I recently installed Window XP in one of our PCs. All
other PCs are using window 2000 professional. When I
tried to map to the C drive of the PC with Window XP, I
entered the username and password (administrator user
type) and there is always an error, which
states "incorrect password or unknown username for:". I
don't want to share this drive in the domain since this
will be visible to everyone. I just want only those who
has the password to login. I know for sure that the
password is correct and still I cannot map it. Can you
please advise!

Have you used the built in "passport" integration with xp?

If so, find the manager for passwords, and remove the link. Microsoft
"passport " integrates itself into the user's profile and buggers with
passwords for other networks.
