Massive Memory Loss

Posted: 02-08-2009, 11:08 PM

After thinking I had some sort of Viruses I downloaded some anti-virus
software. One was something that was part of Macafee called Stinger,
another was called Nod32, and the other was Webroot.

After downloading these 3 I went to turn off System Restore in my C
Drive to use Stinger according to the directions on the site. At that
time I had 448G free and afterward I had 418G. I am unsure of what
caused this sudden loss of memory and I'm not very good with computers
so I need some assistance.

First... it's not "memory" it's hard disk space.

Second... you never said if you ran Stinger or not. Or what it found.

The loss of space was possibly due to an increase in the size of the
Volume Shadow Copies. Don't ask. You don't even know the difference
between memory and hard disk space.

And you don't appear to know if your "some sort of Viruses" problem
has been fixed.
