System is 2.5 Ghz pentium and 768 MB ram.

I'm sorry but I just have to ask: Why do you need to have 85 programsrunning at once? I don't think the computers that launch the Space Shuttle
have as many programs running at the same time.

(not that I have much reason to do so) on a 2.4GHz/1024MB Pentium.

Are we talking about programs or files here? I can't imagine the need foreither but, I really can't imagine 65+ programs open at one time.
