Media Center - "restricted content - display driver" error

Posted: 06-20-2006, 12:37 PM
Odd message in Media Center, when I am trying to view a channel, but don't
get it always:

"Restricted Content: Display Driver - the video playback device does not
support playback of the restricted content. Please press the button to renew
the component. URL location: http://www.microsoft.com."

When I click on renew it just takes me to a microsoft page with nothing
about renewal.

Er, I think I know why. I did some reading. Evidently, I was trying to view
some of the higher channels - HBO and whatnot. I guess there was some
problem before with that. Obviously, I never have run Media Center before. I
just had XP Pro. Anything I can do in this beta? Yep, I know the
answer...no, probably. Anyway, there you go...something more to work on.

I don't have an answer, but I got that message last night.
I had DVR'd one of the World Cup games, and then edited the file to cut out
commercials(so I had been able to watch the original file, and then make
edits to it) When I tried to play the edited file, I got that error message.
