Make sure you have the latest version, 9, the latest directX, 9, and that
the file you are trying to play is supported by WMP, ie not a .mov etc.

Media Player problem

My windows media player is having problems playing
videos. For instance, I created a video in Windows Movie
Maker 2 and then played it in Window Media Player the
video and audio were fine for 3/4 of the video and then
the screen went blank (dark navy blue actually) I could
still hear the audio but the video was gone. I have
played this same video in RealPlayer and in DivX, both of
which handle the video fine.
Another peculiar twist; I reloaded the video into Movie
Maker 2 and it played fine. I opened Media Player (while
Movie Maker was still open) and it played the video all
the way through. But, when I shut down Movie Maker 2,
the problem happened again, and always at the same point.

It's possibly a codec problem or the type of files you used in the making of
the movie. The sound files should not be mp3 and video should preferably be
avi files. For codecs see www.papajohn.org problem solving acceleration and
codecs

When trying to view some videos, namely wmv files off the web,
the videos look corrupted with a negative color image instead
of the normal colors. Is there a setting that I have overlooked
somewhere that will restore the proper colors? I'm using WMP 11.
Or is there a way to select an a;ternative program to use? Any
help will be appreciated.
