MediaPlayer 9 on Win XP and playing .VOX sound files

Have a bunch of sound files recorded in the .vox format.
Try to play on latest Windows Media Player 9 for WinXp
and get:

"Error# C00D11CD"
"Sorry, no more help is available for this problem at
this time."

Am I doing something wrong?

Vox Audio will not play in WMP, convert them to WAV's first then you can
play them.
