Memory Stick Media -Memory Pro Stick Duo etc Stick High Speed

I have a Sony DSC-P100 and it came with a 32mb Memory Stick Media. I see
several types that I can buy because the 32mb only gives me 12 pictures at
5mp and 9 when I use the 3:2 aspect setting which is great for cropping. I
am going on a long trip and it looks like even the 1 Gig will onl give me 279
at 3:2 aspect and 384 at 5mp. Which of all the types does anyone recommend.
It appears it may be prohibitive to crop & use 3:2 on large quantities of
pics where i cant load them on computer or cd which I wont have access to.

I am confused and open for suggestions, actually begging. Thx Dorothy

PS never knew these sticks cost so much more than the SD cards ive had
before. A 512mb SD held 324 at 5mb looks like a will take a gig for 384 at
5mp

This is the price you pay if you purchase a Sony camera. Don't get me wrong,
I have used Sony cameras and love them. Instead of purchasing Sony Memory
Stick, go to a store like CompUSA etc. and see if they have SanDisk memory
stick. Cheaper and never had a problem with them.
Have fun on your trip.

Do Sony sticks work different than others? I have a 4mp Kodak camera with a
128mg card. On highest setting I can still fit around 180 pics on the card. I
recently borrowed a friends 1gig card and it estimates I can fit around 900
odd photos at highest setting.

By the way I'm using MMC memory.
