Memory Upgrade but Same Performance

Posted: 10-18-2003, 12:19 PM
Hi All,

At work I run Windows XP Pro on a Dell Laptop with a Pentium 3 processor at
700 MHz. This week I upgraded my RAM from 128 MB to 384 MB by adding a 256
MB module. The new memory is accounted for when I go to the System
Information screen. My page file is a single 192 MB file, as a custom file
size.

However, I do not perceive any improved performance in general. Also, when I
go to the Performance tab in Windows Task Manager, the Page file usage
appears to be the same.

Do I need to set/reset anything to get XP to use the new memory correctly?
Like changing Virtual memory settings, changing page file settings, deleting
the page file, etc.

Thanks.

Charlie
