sound blaster live or what? check the basics first make
sure the mic is plugged into the right port on the sound
card, it should have a small pic of a mic on it. then
configure the mic on the control panel at sound and audio
devices. also on the task bar at the bottom of the screen
there is apic of a microphone make sure that is toggled
to on.

sounds like you have the mic in the incorrect socet at the
back, change to the appropriate socket and it should work

I just got a new Dell Computer with Microsoft XP Home
Edition. I hooked up my microphone to it and run proper
test, test shows my microphone is working fine, but when i
go to use it on my msn messenger it does not work. Can
anyone help me resolve this problem. It worked prefect for
me on my HP computer with Windows 98.

drivers for the mic. hope it helps a little bit.

I cannot seem to get my microphone working. I get a message of "you will be able to hear people but they cannot hear you", when I run the troubleshooter. I have checked microphone on all windows.

How is you microphone connected? Is it on a webcam? Monitor? or headset? or standalone? Check the device manager to ensure your soundcard is operating properly. Hope this helps

I had a microphone hooked to my old computer(it had Windows 98) and it worked fine. I got a new computer with XP, and now my mic won't work. I tried it in both the mic jack and the in-put jack and it still doesn't work
