Microphone jacks

Hey,
I have two microphone jacks on my puter 1 front and 1
rear. The front jack works fine, and the second jack is
doing exactly that(jack).

the type of sound card that is installed is: a "Realtek
ac'97 audio??, the front jack works without a problem

thoughts?

if the front one works fine then that means theres a good
connection between the front device and your motherboard.

I wonder if the front device is using on-board sound from
the motherboard and the sound card. Does the speaker jack
on the back work?

Yes the rear speaker jack does work, no problem with that.

Most of the Realtek sound chips either work front or
back but not both. Directions for this are in the Main-
board manual.

main board manual? I don't think that i got one pakaged
with my system, can i go to manufacturers web site??, I
reall want the jack in the rear to work that way i can
leave it plugged in full time.
