My son likes to use a microphone with some of his computer games, and the
one he had worked with our WinXP (Home) system with no problems.
At some point though something in the system must have changed, and it no
longer works (although it works perfectly on his XP laptop).
We have poked about trying to find the problem without success. There was
never any installation software, it just worked.
I think maybe a game or application has overwritten something XP needs to
recognise the microphone, but I don't want to do a complete re-install.
Any advice for the confused?
P.S.
We tried using the XP cd's repair option, but it asked for a password,
which we believe is the one assigned when the computer is first tested by
the manufacturer. I phoned the company (Campus Computers) but they are no
longer in business.
All the best,
Angus Manwaring. (for e-mail remove ANTISPEM)
