Microphone problems with vista

i have a laptop with vista x32 bit and i cannot get my microphone to work i
have a logitech clearchat headset, i have tried everything i can think of i
know the microphone works cause i tried it on a computer with xp. it is set
as default recording device and the sound and boost is turned all the way up
