Microsoft Flight Simulator

Posted: 06-18-2007, 07:19 PM
Can anyone help with this please. I am running Vista HP. When my son plays
his microsoft flight simulator a message appears on the screen. It is a box
in the middle of the screen ( I think its something to do with the monitor)
which says message, then in the middle of the box it says 'mode not
supported' and at the bottom in a red bit are some frequency numbers. The
simulator plays completely normally behind this box but am unable to get rid
of it. It has only appeared in the last two days and was not there in the
past? Help, he is nagging me

It is because the monitor is displaying the message. You can usually find a
place in the monitor controls (on the monitor itself) to turn off those
warnings.

You might also check to see if you can run FS at the monitors native
resolution.

How to do it is dependant on the monitor. If you can't figure it out, let us
know what model of monitor, and we can find either how to turn off the
warnings or set FS to run at the correct resolution for the monitor.

Thanks Justin for replying. I have messed about with the monitor controls but
there is nothing to turn off the warnings. The monitor is a Philips 42"PDP
Monitor. Just to let you know, the colour changes to Vista basic auotmaticaly
on starting the simulator.

Vista will drop to Vista Basic when starting the simulator.

In the simulator setup, what resolution is it set to?

I have tried what you said about putting the monitor into native resolution
but the message was still there!!

Martine,

You might consider trying the Flight Simulator in a different resolution.
Try different resolutions and refresh rates if the game supports it. Usually
that is a complaint by the monitor that it does not like the screen mode
that the game switched into.
