Minesweeper doesn't respond

Hi,

I see reading the posts just now that many have had the same problem I have
had for two months or so.

I play minesweeper and about 70% of time it locks up, and just when I'm on
the home straight, sometimes with a world record in my sights!

What was or is the solution to make it run normally reliably?
