missing cdrw, error message on bootup

Posted: 02-16-2004, 08:21 AM
My HP cdrw does not show up in explorer on my Dell (previously had problems with no dvd, floppy or zip but got those going). The cdrw shows up in bios listing ok. On bootup, I am getting the following error:
'Cannot determine file system of drive \??\volume{b5fd5d41-4bed-11d8-8d49-000891509cc2}'

Worked under 98, disappeared when went to XP.
I've looked at the registry, made some changes per some of the postings (which is how I got the other drives back), but running into a wall on this one.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated. THANKS!!!
