MISSING DVD DECODER

Posted: 08-30-2003, 07:06 AM
Dear Fellow XP Users:

I need help with the following question. My (computer)
life has not been the same since the onset of the Blaster
Worm Virus. My laptop (Toshiba) currently utilizes the
Windows XP Professional version operating system.

Prior to the updated program, I was using Windows 98 and
had the capability to view DVD's. However, now with the
Windows XP version, I have a video software system
entitled Interactual. Where I could play DVD's before,
now with this new system I can't. I repeatedly received
an Error Message stating that no device decoder could be
found and that it was not installed on my computer. Well
that seems sort of strange since I had the ability to
play DVD's prior to the upgrade to Windows XP. What
happened?

Secondly and in order to try and rectify the problem, I
tried to download a trial edition of CinePlayer and when
I tried to use that software, I received the
message "Cineplayer Authentication failed". I have been
working on this problem for a week.

Does this all mean that I have to purchase a decoder kit
to allow my DVD's to work again? Why should I have to
now purchase a decoder kit when the DVD's used to work
under the old operating system???

Pam
