Default Missing network

I can't seem to find out why my network properties are missing.
Open the Local Area Connection Properties, Only the Client for
Microsoft Networks is shown. The IPv4, IPv6, File and Printer Sharing
seems to be missing.
If I try to Install any Protocol, Client, Services, I get the error "
Could not add the requested feature. The error is: The system cannot
find the file specified." Even the network adapter name is missing in
the Connect using field. Strangely, I can still access my network.
Without resorting to reinstalling the Vista OS, does anyone know how to
manually add these back or resolve this issue?

TIA.

Default Re: Missing network

Make the NIC is compatible with the Vista. Or check if there is a new drive
for the NIC. It also could be a 3rd party software issue. You may try to
start the Vista with clean boot.

Default RE: Missing network

Ive said this in a couple of Posts now; this kept happening to me as well;
and I did all the Fixes, Hotfixes; used all suggestions and I would still get
random internet loss; complete loss of my home network and I would have to
reboot to get it back; only to loose it later on at some point. I solved the
Internet issues very easily and got a major speed increase as a +. I bought
a Certified for Vista Router; I've now had this router hooked up for over a
week; and have not had one Random Disconnect; nor have I lost my Home
Network; I had a few other issues; and it wasnt that my other router was old;
but it seems from all the research I did; that getting Vista Certified Router
could help this issue; and for me personally it was worth every $. I had
literally spent over 3 weeks applying fixes, hotfixes; using others
suggestions; and the Router solved all the issues and I got a major speed
increase as well. It makes sense that with a new OS that offers many new
features we may need to upgrade some of our Hardware to get the most out of
Vista.

Go to Device Manager and un-install the network adapter for the Local
Area Connection. Then, click Action > "Scan for hardware changes" to
re-install the network adapter.
