Missing password authentication

I have a dell inspiron 5160 i lent it to a friend and when i got it back it keeps saying.

this computer systerm, BYN4B1J-A95B. is protected by a password authentication systerm. you cannot accesss the date on this computer without the correct password.

i never set up a password on this computer and my friend said only his son used it and he dosent know how it got on . can anyone help.

i have looked for the CMOS batt but cant find one ,do i have to take this out off ?????
