Missing Tabs, Video Driver

Posted: 10-06-2003, 07:10 PM
Every time I restart Win Xp Home edition I find that I am
not loading my installed Video drivers and in the Display
Properties there are no Tabs except the first one, Themes.

This all happened after I used CHKDSK /p to repair a
drive mount problem. Somehow a few files got corrupted
and some settings. Every thing else was fixable and this
problem can be fixed by removing the Video card driver
and letting WinXp refind and install it. The problem
then reoccurs when the machine is next restarted.

The Xp version is current with all patches and service
paks installed and the Video drivers are the Nvidia 45.23
version if memory serves.

I would greatly appreciate help with this problem, I
really dont want to have to wipe and reinstall windows.

For what it's worth this all started with my purchase of
a new and larger hard drive. I was planning on using a
commercial drive copy program which actually worked quite
well, but before the drive could be copied the mounting
problem had to be recovered. The error was that the
drive was not correctly dismounted.

Once the new hard drive was copied and installed I found
that I had this series of problems and when I reinstalled
the old drive, well, there they were on the old drive as
well.
