I, too, am having problems with ID CS2 and AI CS2 when trying to use Zapf Dingbats or Monotype Sorts fonts which I've been using for years. When typed in either app, the characters that must be accessed using key combinations such as shift-option-zero just don't appear. This is not a good thing for my production!
The results under OS X on two different machines, one using Suitcase and the other using FontExplorer, are identical: the characters are not accessible from the keyboard.
These applications are supposed to be professional-level. Having to select a character in a Glyph palette just to access it is very kindergarten-like. It's time-consuming, therefore counterproductive.
Any feature which requires I remove my hand from the keyboard to use the mouse does nothing but slow me down. Please fix the problem with the fonts.
